Hallmark is running a promotion where you receive a catalina coupon for $5.00 of your next purchase when you buy three cards* (excluding $0.99 cards). The Valentine's Day bear is also free with a purchase of three cards. So here's what I did:
1) I chose three cards, ideally priced at $1.49 or $1.99 each. I could only find $1.99 cards, but your Safeway may have a better selection. Then I found the plush bear, which was in the holiday candy and gift section of the store. I paid for the cards and bear in one transaction. The price of the bear ($5.99) was automatically deducted, so my total was $6.48.
2) I then "rolled" the $5 catalina coupon to cover the trash bags and milk. To do this, I began a new transaction with the Glad ForceFlex trash bags, 38 count, and used the $3 manufacturer coupon and this Safeway store coupon, found in this week's grocery ad (1/12-1/18).
The trash bags were only $2.99 with both coupons! The other $3.01 from the catalina went towards the milk, and I only paid $.70 out of pocket! I can't wait to give the bear to my son for Valentine's Day :)
