I just love coupon overage. Why? Because it paid for all of the groceries you see above, including the milk! Yep. I didn't spend a penny out of my own pocket. Several stores, including Albertsons and Walmart, allow for coupon overage, which means they give you the full value of the coupon, even if it exceeds the purchase price. That overage will then be applied to your entire purchase!
The biggest tip I have for scoring sweet coupon overage is to check out the clearance section, usually located towards the back of the store. You can find a ton of markdowns, and if you're lucky, you'll have a high-value coupon to match!
Here's how I rocked some coupon overage at Albertsons last night:
Whole Wheat French Bread, on manager's special for $0.99
(2) Glade Scented Oil Warmer kits, on clearance for $0.99
Used two, $1/1 coupons here
Final price: FREE, plus $0.02 in overage!
Bob's Red Mill Pearl Barley, on clearance for $1.70
(3) Centrum ProNutrients Probiotics, on clearance for $2.62
Used three, $5/1 coupons (10/14 RP)
Final price: FREE, plus $2.38 in overage each!
*This was the real moneymaker, as the overage paid for everything else! Plus, the vitamins are good through the end of next year-go figure!
Whole Milk, $3.19
Final price: FREE, thanks to the coupons and overage!
I'm not as dedicated to clipping coupons and bringing my entire stash along every time I shop, but if you are, you're bound to find some overage items in the clearance sections. I can't make any promises, but I would clip those Centrum coupons and bring them with you the next time you shop at Albertsons, just in case.
Please share any coupon overage deals you've scored recently in the comments section!
