Hello from sunny San Diego! We've been living the good and busy life here on vacation, already having visited Sea World, the San Diego Zoo and the local beaches!
As we were leaving the zoo, we gave the kiddos the option of one toy as a momento of their fun day with all of the animals. I'll admit to being just a little proud of my son for selecting the tinier toy cheetah rather than the bigger (and cooler) one, saving a good $6. I asked him several times if he was sure he wanted the "baby" cheetah, and he was resolved. Already frugal at only 3 years old!
Speaking of frugal, I couldn't pass up a trip to Rite Aid, which was just a few blocks from the hotel. Talk about convenient! I only packed enough diapers to get us through the first day of our trip, since I knew Rite Aid would be having a great deal on Huggies starting Sunday. Here's what I purchased:
(2) L'eggs Microfiber Trouser Socks, $3.49 (B1G1 50% off; one rang up at $1.74)Huggies Slip-Ons diapers, $9.99 (on sale $10; rang up with my 20% Wellness+ discount)Huggies Snug & Dry diapers, $9.99 (on sale $10; rang up with my 20% Wellness+ discount)Used the $2/1 Slip-Ons coupon (9/16 SS)
and used the $1/1 Huggies diapers coupon (9/16 SS)and used $3 in +UP RewardsPaid $20.13 plus tax and received back a $5 +UP Reward for the L'eggs (and I'm 2/3 of the way toward a $10 Kimberley-Clark products +UP Reward)Final price: $15.13!
A few things of note:
::The socks work out to only $0.11 each after the +UP Reward, so it's definitely worth looking around for some of the lesser-priced L'eggs items!
::I will probably pick up the final package of diapers when I get home, since sales tax is a bit cheaper. That will eventually make each package of diapers about $5, which isn't bad for Huggies!
::I was able to find an early-edition of the Sunday paper still on the racks, which rang up at only $0.92 (reg. $1; rang up with my Wellness+ discount). Considering it contains all of the same coupons, it was a steal! I also saw a lone Smart Source insert sitting on the back counter, and asked the cashier if it was being saved for some reason. She just handed it to me for free, saying it had been left on the counter by another customer. Score!
I hope you're having a great week! I'll be back with some more travel-related frugal posting soon.
