1) Register with Zaycon Foods. (Just click the blue "Register" button.)
2) Find the "event" closest to you, and order your desired quantity. Each order of chicken is good for one 40 lb. case ($75.60). You will want to order as soon as possible, before they sell out! (And, trust me, this chicken always sells out fast!)
3) Pick up your chicken, hamburger patties and/or hot dogs at the specified location on the event date! It's as easy as that.
How to Prepare Your Chicken (Photo Tutorial)
I'm
a big fan of Zaycon, because you can't beat the prices and convenience
of the entire process. It's so nice to have a few-months supply of
chicken in the freezer. I decided to document the last time we prepared our Zaycon chicken order, from the box to the freezer. Here's a quick tutorial:
::As luck would have it, Lawry's marinades were free at Albertsons just before I ordered my chicken. I was able to pick up all the marinades I needed with the chicken in mind, in a bunch of varieties. In the past, I've also used barbeque sauce.
::Before you break out the chicken, be sure to get your baggies and any marinades/sauces you want to use ready. I like to label the bags with the marinade info and date using a Sharpie marker, which is much easier to do before they're full of chicken. The last thing you want is to be unprepared with raw chicken on your hands! {This was a team effort between my husband and I: he did the trimming and cutting, and I prepared the bags with marinades.}
::Your box will contain four bags containing 10 lbs. each of chicken. It's all in one giant bag, so we just place the bag on one side of our sink.
::Zaycon chicken comes in the butterflied form (for lack of a better term), meaning the two breast are connected in the center and you will need to split them for convenience. Trust me, they're big! I can put two breasts (as shown below) in a quart-size baggie, or up to four in a gallon-size baggie. You will also want to trim the breasts of extra fat and any remaining cartilage, both of which are pretty minimal. You can also opt to chunk the meat if you plan to use it in soups, chili, casseroles or stir-fry, just to save time in the future-it's up to you.
::Once you've prepped the chicken to your liking, all you have to do is bag it and it's ready for the freezer! If you're an ambitious person, you could also prepare freezer meals with the chicken and make it one, big cooking day. I haven't attained that level of organization or awesomeness yet, but someday.
::It took about 45 minutes total for my husband and I to clean, trim, and prep the chicken and get it all into our freezer. In my opinion, it's well worth the time and effort to have all of that chicken ready to go for summer barbeques and easy dinners. I don't have to think about chicken for the next several months, and that's quite the relief!

If
you don't think you can use this much chicken and/or bacon, I would
highly recommend splitting an order with a friend (or several)! You'll
still get the great deal and not have to worry about the freezer space!
