I actually won a super-nice vacuum during the most recent Christmastime Dr. Oz giveaway, and I have two pieces of advice to win:
1) Don't necessarily go for the biggest prize of the hour. Of course it would be nice to win those, but they're next to impossible to win. I think that's partly why I won the vacuum. I really needed a new one, and I think everyone else was distracted by the TV's and XBox systems!
2) Be on the page of the item you want (or the main page), and open the clock application on your computer. By watching the seconds on the clock, you'll be able to know when to refresh the page, which I've found to be 5-6 seconds before the new hour. So if the giveaway starts at 9AM, try refreshing the page at 8:59:55ish.
