Amazon: Organic Seven Grain Bread Flour only $1.15/lb!

My lovely mother (Hi, Mom!) gave me her bread machine late last year, and it's been a resolution of mine to make {almost} all of my own bread this year. It's probably the easiest baking you'll ever do, as it's really just dumping the ingredients in the pan and pushing the Start button. I figured that I was paying, at best, $1.50 per loaf of bread last year. My kiddos really love their PB&J's, so that can add up. I've found homemade bread to be a frugal and healthier alternative to store-bought bread. Even though you're paying more upfront for the flour, it really does save lots of money in the end, which brings me to this next deal at Amazon...

  Right now, you can score this Great River Organic Milling 100% Organic Bread Flour Seven Grain, 5 Pound Bags (Pack of 4) for only $23.03... reg. $34.37! That works out to only $1.15/lb. for organic seven grain flour, which is pretty stellar in my book! You may need to click on the option shown below for this best deal, as it's an Amazon Warehouse price:

  I am by no means a math whiz, but I believe you get roughly 3 cups of flour per pound. My bread machine recipes call for 2 cups of flour per loaf, so less than $1.00 per loaf in the cost of flour. In a typical recipe, I'll substitute some wheat bran for flour, add a tablespoon of honey and of butter, a pinch of salt, 2 tsp. of almond milk and some yeast. Even still, I'm guessing that my homemade loaf of bread is cheaper than a typical store-bought loaf, and I know exactly what ingredients are being used. With this deal on 20 lbs. of flour, I will save at least $0.50/loaf compared to store-bought bread, which is a total savings of $15! {Given that it's organic flour, we're probably talking even bigger savings!}

Hopefully this encourages you to try making your own bread, too. If it's been awhile, don't be afraid to dust off that bread machine and give it another go!
