how I brought home free cereal and 34 Sharpies

...or, why I love Rite Aid! These two deals should make for an easy introduction to Rite Aid, but keep in mind they end today (1/15).

  The Special K cereal is on a Buy One, Get One Free sale*. You will need to print two Buy One, Get One Free Special K coupons here. Remember to hit the back button to print twice! (Registration is free, but personal information is required.) Choose any four boxes (priced at $4.79 each), and use both coupons. The registers will automatically deduct the cost of two boxes, and the coupons will cover the other two for free cereal!**

  No coupons are necessary to take advantage of the Sharpie deal.  Sharpies are on a Buy One, Get One 50% off sale. Look for the 8-packs that have another bonus 8-pack attached. Buy two, priced at $8.99 each. Then find two single Sharpies, priced from $1.49-$1.99 each.

   Here is how the transaction will look before coupons:

  I paid $16.91 plus tax for four boxes of cereal and 34 Sharpies. Not bad, but just wait for the +UP Rewards (which you can read more about here). +UP Rewards are essentially in-store credits that are prompted when you purchase certain products. They print at the bottom of your receipt and can be used toward your next purchase. 

  

  I earned $17 +UP rewards with this purchase. Each box of cereal printed $1 +UP, and the Sharpies printed two $4 and one $5 +UP rewards. I now have as much money in store credit as I paid out! 

  I've been "rolling" these UP rewards from purchase to purchase for a few months now, and only pay the dollar or two in tax out-of-pocket each purchase. You can use these UP rewards immediately by beginning a new transaction, or you can wait for upcoming sales. Just make sure to use them before their expiration dates!

  If your Rite Aid happens to be out of either of these items, ask for a rain check, and make sure to specify the UP rewards associated with each product.
